DANNY DRAVEN – PRESS RELEASE NAB 2009 ANNOUNCEMENT
(FANGORIA MAGAZINE, 2/17/2009) - Independent horror writer/producer/director Danny Draven (pictured) let us know that he’ll be a guest speaker at the 2009 National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas this April. He’ll be giving two one-time only classes: Producing & Directing Indie Films and Distribution for Indie Filmmakers.
For the producing/directing class, which takes place Sunday, April 19 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., Draven will offer advice and guidance for those looking to break into the film world, drawing from his knowledge and experience from the low-budget horror scene. The distribution class, being held Monday, April 20 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., will cover ways to sell and self distribute your film. Both sessions, Draven notes, will be heavily informed by his most recent experiences making the 35mm supernatural chiller GHOST MONTH.
Draven is enthusiastic about these opportunities and is confident they’ll have a positive effect, saying, “I’m very happy to be giving these lectures. I love talking about what I do for a living. These sessions, and the others at the NAB show, are a great way to learn important tips and tricks of indie filmmaking, things that may help you avoid some of the pitfalls of making low-budget horror films.”
In addition to GHOST MONTH, which North American Motion Pictures will release June 9 on DVD and Blu-ray, Draven’s credits include HELL ASYLUM, Stuart Gordon Presents DEATHBED, CRYPTZ, HORRORVISION, and DARK WALKER, plus editing numerous features for Charles Band and David DeCoteau, among others. Check out our recent GHOST MONTH article in Fango #279 (pictured below), and see the trailer below; for more info on Draven and GHOST MONTH, see his MySpace page hereand the movie’s official site here and MySpace page here.
